All about me...

Hi everyone ... I'm Frauke, aka Super Frauke, a fun-loving German yoga teacher who has been living in the Canary Islands for nearly 40 years! I live in Fuerteventura with my two daughters and my grandson, enjoying the island lifestyle here.

I spent many years working in hotels and spa management at some of the Canary Islands' best hotels and resorts, before putting my passion for Kundalini Yoga into practice and retraining as a yoga teacher. I am a member of the IKYTA (International Kundalini Yoga Teacher Association and a member of the AEKY (Asociacion Española de Kundalini Yoga). You can listen to more of my story in my Wyse Women podcast.

I am a qualified yin / yang yoga teacher (200 hours Yoga Alliance) and in 2018 completed 50 hour mindfulness & yin yoga training with Josh Summer in Ireland. As well as being a qualified fitness instructor, Pilates teacher & massage therapist, my most recent yoga teacher training courses have been in yoga for children and aerial yoga - I can't wait to introduce you all to the fun of yoga in a hammock in Lajares very soon!

I teach a range of yoga, meditation and yoga nidra classes at retreats & local venues on Fuerteventura! You can find details of my classes here

If you are a yoga teacher, I can also support in arranging national or international retreats in beautiful locations and organising hosting, world class teaching staff and vegan / vegetarian cooks. Please contact me for more details

What is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is called the Yoga of Awareness and it is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul.

Kundalini Yoga is much more than a bunch of physical exercises. When we apply the method of Kundalini Yoga to our bodies and minds, it has the effect of uplifting the spirit. It is for everyone. It is universal. It's a practice of experience of a person's own excellence, which is dormant and which is awakened.

Kundalini Yoga is a yoga for everyone, for people who have to cope with the daily challenges and stresses of holding jobs, raising families, and managing businesses

What will we do in a class?

Each class will combine some or all of the following:

Asanas (poses): to connect with the energetic pathways and create electrical circuitry within the body.

Pranayamas (breath):  Special breathing techniques change the rhythm and depth of the breath which in turn affects your emotions... chemical production in the brain is stimulated helping heal depression.

Mudras (hand poses): which are positions of the hands involve touching end of the fingers and thumb, thereby creating a circuit.

Body locks (bhandas): to create pressure in different parts of the body and it works on the same principle as hydraulics, to force the energy to move upwards (used as well to support the correct alignment of the spine.)

Eye-focus: Different eye positions cause the optic nerve to apply variable pressures to mayor glands and gray matter (remember that the optic nerve travels from the eyes to the brain). As well it allows the mind to reach a point of stillness during meditation or Kriya. When no specific eye focus is given they eyes should be kept closed during the practice because it encourage an inner focus.

Mantras: The power of a Mantra is amazing (Man= mind, Tra=heat of life or wave),it’s a powerful combination of words which if recited or chanted takes the vibratory effect to each of your cells. So by chanting a mantra we can vibrate at cellular level at a frequency that alters brain chemistry and patterns of the mind.

Meditation: Brings clarity and self realization, clearing the trash from your subconscious. Meditation is a cleansing process you’re cleaning out and getting rid of negativity that has been covering up the divine light inside you. When you sit quietly and turn the focus inward you become very aware of what’s going on in the background of your mind, do not react or evaluate, let them be processed by the mantra. Have patience.

Relaxation: It’s an important part of the experience, both during the exercises and afterwards, it brings rejuvenation to your body and mind, releases the muscles, circulates the glandular changes and allows your emotional energies to settle and release all residual stress and tension
